INSTALLATION TIME
How much time should you set aside for window tinting? The main factors are the windows you want covered, your vehicle’s layout, and whether existing film needs to be removed. Here is how to plan your appointment with San Diego Best Tint.
Time to Set Aside
| Coverage | Appointment time |
|---|---|
| Front two door windows | 1½ hours reserved |
| Windshield tint | 1½ hours reserved |
| Full car: left and right sides plus rear windshield | Generally 2½–4 hours |
Windshield and roof glass are separate from full-car coverage. Old-film removal and exterior ExoShield protection require their own estimate.

What Can Affect the Schedule?
Front-door and windshield installations often finish before the reserved slot ends. We leave room for the unexpected conditions that can come with mobile work, including wind, dust, limited access, or extra glass preparation.
Larger vehicles and more complex glass shapes generally take longer. Curved rear windows, additional glass panels, and tight access around trim require more fitting and finishing time.
If the vehicle already has tint, removing the old film and adhesive adds work—particularly around rear-window defroster lines. Let us know before booking; our window tint removal guide explains what is involved.
What Happens During Installation?
- Review: confirm the film, shade, and windows being covered.
- Prepare: protect nearby surfaces and thoroughly clean the glass.
- Fit: shape and position the film, remove installation solution, and finish the edges.
- Check: inspect the result and explain aftercare before handing the vehicle back.
Careful preparation and final checks are part of the job, so leave some flexibility before your next commitment.
How to Prepare for Your Mobile Appointment
Confirm a suitable work area and clear personal belongings from around the windows. Share any access restrictions ahead of time so we can plan the setup. Our mobile installation guide covers the details.
After the Appointment: Allow Time to Cure
Your vehicle can be ready to drive while moisture beneath the film is still drying. Keep roll-down windows closed for 24 hours and allow up to 72 hours for complete curing, following the aftercare instructions provided with your installation.
Leaving temporary drying marks undisturbed helps protect the film as it cures. See our aftercare and cleaning guide for caring for the film as it settles.
Book the Right Appointment for Your Vehicle
Send us your vehicle’s year, make, and model, the windows you want tinted, whether old film is present, and your service location. We will confirm the scope and expected schedule before your visit.
